SuperClaw is no more. :( Expenses for keeping it online just became too much.

BUT - I found a Sega UFO Catcher machine at my local arcade... and HAD to play it. Lucky me, I won a Donald Duck plush on my first try. :D Heaven help me if I ever go back to Japan and wander into an arcade with a bajllion UFO Catcher machines.... >.>

Homigod! A claw machine community! I was just telling my mom today that I wanted to start one, but I'm going to breathe some life back into this one instead.

I am a recent claw machine junkie. I started on a lark when my mom & I went to Village Inn and decided to try... and I got a purple pig. I've probably got about 35 or 40 stuffed animals from claw machines now... which I'll try to take some decent pictures of later. My favourite claw machine is at a nearby Red Robin - cutest toys and the best claw around.

For now, here's a bad photo of what I won from a $1 claw machine at Wal-Mart today.

Why yes, it IS a blue Taz. And you can't really tell, but he's made out of sparkly blue fabric as well. XD

I've started to realize that, despite the occasional bout of luck, I'm not very good winning things from claw machines.

Like most gambling addicts, though, I don't want to stop.

I just need to practice harder.

Our Aussie talk show host, Rove (think Conan O'Brien but Australian) spoke about his "Skill Tester" obsession on the show last week so we decided to send him a photo of our wins. I figured I should post it here, too.

And, yes, that is a pile of pure toys - no padding. We counted around 230.

My dream is to one day get my own machine so I can throw all the toys in and practice every day.

I always meant to start a community like this, but am lazy, so I was so glad to find this one today!

Yes, I too have an addiction. We call the crane machines Skill Testers here because most of them have those words on them and also it implies that we have skill which is always gratifying.

I intend to photograph my wins at some stage - especially my favourites, but for now, here's about half the collection:

Yeah, they have a habit of just building up.

I just joined this community, immediately after I discovered it existed. I was not aware that there were any communities dedicated to claw machine enthusiasts, but that's Livejournal for you, I suppose. Heck, it was either this (now) 2-person community, or the one that's been inactive for nearly a year. I'm just glad to have found a place where I can share my winnings. Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera now...so I'll only be sharing the descriptions. Sowwy.

Anyway, brief life story: I have a wee gambling addiction. Fortunately, I've never been allowed near casinos, as I only turned eightteen in January. So as a kid, whenever I went near a video arcade, I'd go wild. Never much of a video-gamer, but I would occasionally lose several dollars to The Claw. Won a stuffed basketball-playing T-rex once, but that was luck.

Now, though, it's the claw machines at Wal-Mart, and over the past several months I've been becoming more adept at the joystick. I've won about ten things in the past six months. My dream is to one day empty the machine in one blow. About a week ago I hit the jackpot, four prizes in one sitting. Two silly little patriotic bears, there for the Fourth, a frog, and a toy bear with a "Cuddle Me" t-shirt. The frog and bear were a two-for-one grab! Yay for luck!

So, um, yeah. That's my story. Hopefully we can attract more crazies like us to this community?

Happy grabbing!

I don't expect anyone to really join in on this community, but if you do happen to take a glance our way, hello and welcome. :)
